MoreliaViridis Jan 12, 2005 05:25 PM

I was wondering if someone could post pics of their indoor pens for larger tortoises like desert or leopard tortoises?

here's the indoor pen we used when he was smaller,
it's 8 ft.long by 2 1/2 ft. deep and 2 ft. high
equals 300 gallons. All three top screens opened
and the lights could be moved around as needed.
When he was a hatchling he was in there with tons
of stuff, hay piles, logs, flower pots, water bowls,
etc... as he got bigger the accessories had to go
because they just got destroyed or too small anyway.
We went to these hide "walls" for privacy/security.
Glass on this is safety glass, and eventually we
gave this indoor cage away to somebody on the forum
when we built the next one.

this one is 8ft. by 6 ft. and 2 ft. high, with a sliding screen
top for lights on one end. door allows access for tortoise,
when he got to run around the house (till he knocked over
the grand piano bench), (in the winter years he was inside he never
messed in the house, in case you're wondering), this
cage has a complete and sealed melamine floor also.

check out: http://photos.yahoo.com/iananderson02@sbcglobal.net

pics of my leo's enclosure is on there, she is about 11 inches and 11 lbs. If you do a search you may be able to find my original post that describes the size (about 6.5 x 3.5 feet) and construction method. I HIGHLY reccomend doing your homework so your pet can have the best house possible (there are alot of good idaes out there!!!)
