Sunburst?

some_lizard_guy Jan 12, 2005 06:25 PM

This is legolas my male. He was advertised as "sunburst".
1. Is he a sunburst?
2. Is sunburst hypo/high yellow as I have heard? Or is he something else, he is certainly very yellow...

Does that dragon have clear nails? It appears to but I can't really tell... and Yes, Kevins sunburst line has hypo influenceand that is why some of them have clear nails... he bred the clear nailed snow line into a yellow line. I'm not sure what line of yellows he used though. I can't say without a doubt that yours is but it is definately very yellow and a really nice lookin guy!

If I was to advertise babies from this guy Iwoudl say exactky what you said... I was sold this dragon as.....

Could the saler provide any parental history for you or the original breeder/owner for your records?

How clear is clear? They are translucent except for a black stripe running along the front, so I guess he does have clear nails, but as I said I don't know what the standards are...

I got him at the Indianapolis expo from a leopard gecko breeder whose friend had given her a clutch of really nice looking beardies to sell. So the history is unknown...She metioned a breeder's name... But I didn't recognize it... The boy I ended up getting seemed the best in the bunch (he was 7 months at the time)

Thankyou for the advice on his offspring, I plan on breeding him in the coming months to a nice looking female.

Sunbursts usually have clear nails so it is probably not directly from Dragons Den but that does not mean that it does not have Sunburst ancestry. Yeah Sunburst are like a hypomelanistic yellow dragon, but Kevin does not breed specifically for clear nails. So I know he has added some nice yellows recently but I am not sure if they are also clear nailed.
