Breeding question weight male VS female???

jack7777766 May 15, 2003 08:42 PM

What a @#$@# new forum I hit back to edit my message because the images didnt work and my whole message got deleted, and when I clicked forward it said the page had expired.

Anyway
I have a male leo at 22grams and a female at 48 grams, they both gaines 15 grams last month, and the female has done so for the last two months. Im thinking of breeding them when the female is 60grams and the male is 40 grams, would this work, Im conserned about the female not being receptive to the male since shes bigger.
What do you think??

I think both of your geckos will be fine.

I actually like to wait until my females are between 50 and 60 grams before I breed them....females especially.

I had a huge super hypo tangerine that was, well, she was between the weight of 60 and 70 grams, but she was a huge chunk! I was a bit worried, because I wasn't sure if my male could take her. He's of good size, and he was a little over 40 grams, and sure enough, he went after her and got the job done. At least she didn't squish him, I was a bit worried by that! LOL

I am sure your geckos will do just fine. If you want you can just keep an eye on them when they breed. Thats what I did, just to make sure that everything went alright.
I hope this helps.

Yeah Im not even sure Ill breed these to each other, but its good to know the male wont get battered if I do.

Not a problem at all for the help.

I am sure your male could tackle the female if you do decide to breed the 2. He'd find some way to get the job done. :P I just looked at it this way....some of my females are pretty hefty, so now when I look at him, I just tell him he has a thing for "fat chicks/geckos"
