any suggestions how to help this little guy??

divinitry Jul 04, 2003 03:59 PM

i bought this blizzard a few days ago at a pet store, and he seems to be afraid of humans or anything for that matter. in the three days that i've had him he hasn't come out of his hide (on his own) at all. He is very healthy, he eats as long as i put it in the hide with him, but if i remove his hide he cowers in the corner of his enclosure and doesn't like to be handled. any suggestions on how to help him out?? thanks

justin

He probably is just a really shy leo. Since he is new and young, it is only natural for him to be shy now, but perhaps he just has a skittish personality. I would say just to leave him be, and don't disturb him if you can't. He will eventually get used to you.

I think blizzards in general are shyer and many times more aggressive (hissing and biting) than other leos. My blizz took some time before she would accept being handled. I would leave him/her alone for a couple of weeks then slowly introduce yourself to him by placing your hand near him. After that try holding him for a few mins everyday, he should warm up to you.

Try leaving him alone for a few weeks. This should make him feel more comfortable in his new surroundings. But, a male that I got acts like your blizzard and in the 7 months I have had him, he hasnt lightened up a bit. All leos have dif. personalities...
