That was my exact first experience with boa breeding. I thought everything was going well......Only to have my girl drop slugs and 7 premature babies. I saw all the babies die. It was very rough for me! I almost quit breeding after dealing with that.
I got lucky on my second try. Friends told me not to give up just yet. I'm glad I didn't. There's nothing better than having a healthy litter.........And, finally getting first pick of the babies.
Out of three breedings my "stats" are.......one healthy litter....And, two litters of slugs.
So, keep your chin up. Everyone seems to go through it sooner or later. (Sad to say.)
Sorry you had to go through that.

Bad luck mate, put it behind you and look to the future every year brings new boas and renewed interest just dont get disheartened by the occasional balls up.

You do have some new babies ! Last year my biggest female had one live baby & the rest were slugs. I tried to look on the positive side & came to the conclusion "One baby was one more than I had" : )
I've been breeding boids for a little over 15 yrs now. I've never witnessed ovulation. Learning wil only make you better at what you do. Hang in there.

All I can do is try not to let it get me down an go forward with it!I still got raindrop to go!So now I need to look at the mistakes I have made an not make them again! An hopefully everything will be better with the next litter!1 baby I was wrong about I cleaned my tank an came back to the 3 dead babies to freeze them that way I can post pics at the beginning of the month an I noticed 1 was breathing,he has no body movement but is barely breathing,I got him on paper towels an heat in a tupper ware container,an if he aint no better by tonight then Ill freeze him too!But again thanks all!Eric[Hypoboa]

I am sure next year, you will got nice litters ! It can happen than boa's(and pythons) got problems with their first litter, I mean many slugs and prematures babies.
Concerning the ovulation, it often last less than 12 h, so you can miss it, I did it so many times ! It's a problem if it happens when you are in low temperatures and that you don't raise them up to mormal at once.
I posted ovulation pics one the boa forum, both of them lasted less than 12 H , so I warmed up the cage to normal at once !
