Several Questions, any input appreciated-Carrot Tail viper Geckos

M n R-Reptile Jan 13, 2005 01:00 PM

I am interested in starting up a colony of Carrot Tail Viper Geckos.
I would like to know a breeder website for them to get info but have the following questions.
I would like to know
1-How much do babies retail for?
2- How much do say 10 lots of babies wholesale for?
3-What age or weight are they ready to breed at?
4-What sex ratio can I put into a economical rack that holds tupperware that is about 4" tall, 8 long and 5" wide?
5- Are these as simple to set up as leoaprd geckos, or do they prefer much, sand, etc?
I am doing research to understand this gecko as I find it very attractive and seems to be a good prolific breeder and producer with minimal problems.
I would like to start with sexable juveniles and raise them to breeding size but I want to know if it is feasibly economical, etc as answers to my questions will let me determine.
What would be better, These or Helmeted Geckos?

Sounds to me like your trying to find something to make a fast dollar on? But i'll disregard that thought in the hopes that's not the case and let you know what you want to know.
-These are very hardy small, terrestrial geckos. They like it hot and dry. They feed on basically anything possible to fit into their small mouths. They are best kept on fine grain sand, with a few pieces of corkbark as refuges. Water a corner slightly once about every 1.5 weeks. As adults female are heavy producers and need alot of food and calcium to support their laying habits. These geckos breed very well under the right circumstances. They are small, and relatively inexpensive, and a joy to work with. Helmeted geckos are a bit more tricky, but there is too much to explain about them. But they are also a joy to work with! I would suggest getting both species.
*These are my own personal opinions, things that have worked for me over the years, please do your research. These husbandry skills may not work for all T.faciata. Thanks.
