Quick breeding question

TheFrogGuy Jan 13, 2005 01:02 PM

Hey, I have a custom tank that is about 50w x 20h x 17d. Comes out to around 70-75 gallons. I have 2 pairs of azureus that I would like to breed in the enclosure.

If I want them to breed, would I want to split the tank and put a pair in each side, or would it be better to put the two pairs in the one big 70-75 gal tank?

I know that sometimes females can get terretorial and eat each others eggs, but would they be alright if they had 70 gallons to share? The reason I kind of wanted to put them all in one big tank is because that way both females can hear both males call so I thought that they may be more stimulated to engage in courtship. Please tell me your thoughts. Thanks! ~Aaron

They will do fine in your 70 gal enclosure with no need to seperate. If there is confrontation, there is enough room for one to flee and take up a new territory. Just be sure to keep an eye on them the first week or so and make sure everyone is eating. Good luck with the breeding project!
