enough water for temp. tank

ntothed89 Jan 13, 2005 04:26 PM

i was doing my weekly clean out of all my turtles tanks and when i was cleaning one out another one just broke while sitting there so i hit the power off for the basement and now all the koi goldfish and turtles are without light, heat, and filtration. i put the turtle for now in a 20 gallon platic pond liner with a basking area but i dont think he'll bask because there are no lights so then i cleaned up the water the best i could. part of his shell is sticking out of the water. will he be ok like this until i go out and get him a new tank tomorrow. i get home from work at 4 and i am going right to get other tank so he'll be all set up at 5:00 tomorrow night. if all the water is off the ground im going to turn the power for the basement back on. and i called the company where i bought my tank and they said that they will refund my money because i just bought it 3 months ago. $300... i think thats it..

I wouldn't stress at all about having to rig a temporary home for a day or two. Stuff like that happens all the time. I am about to switch to a larger tank so my adult turtle will be bunking out in a rubbermaid for a few days while his new tank gets set up in the same place as the old one and the water has a chance to regulate. As they say "stuff" happens If it was for multiple days/weeks I would try and provide a heat source, but it's not, so no big deal.

Hope all goes well with the new tank!
