Hogg Island Boas!? Any morphs yet?

mandk Jan 13, 2005 05:28 PM

Hello! I have been keeping ball pythons and their morphs for a while now, but I have been slowly changing over to boas. One boa in particular has caught my eye, The Hog Island,. I know PM Herps has the Reduced Pattern Hogs, but are there any other morphs for hogs out there? Also...I see hog hypos...are these just intergrades or are they pure hog morphs? Would love a lot more info on these and who is a great breeder to buy from. Thanks Mike

There a variety of "morphs" within the Hog Isle community. There are the reduced pattern you mentioned, tiger hog islands,hi orange,pink,blue,hi-color hi patterned,lo-color lo patterned and vice versa.Have also seen what was described as a "calico" hog.The hypo hog is a hybrid or cross. It could be considered a "mutt" because of it having more than two species intertwined in order to create it.I dont like using that term because of the negative connotation it infers.Though I will never own one,I think they have some very appealing coloration.I am in the process of line breeding a new phase.Using traceable bloodlines to emphasize the cherry-pink color some are known to have.Still enjoy the dark orange brown hogs that were the norm from the late eighties to early nineties,BUT I AM BIASED,MY SCREEN NAME SAYS SO (LOL)Marcus

I have seen a supposed T Albino Hog. Supposedly confirmed by some of the big names in our little hobby. Was defenitly not a normal hog and was defenitly a hog, or at least a hog cross (tail and overall look was a dead giveaway, also very small).

Hopefully it will prove out and we will see them on the market eventually.

Is there any chance of seeing any pictures of this Hog? Is it on someone's website? I'd love the chance to see that 'albino' Hog.

two years ago i had a baby hypo hog that i hope to prove out. she sheds clear like a ghost ball does has no belly pattern, fade head markings and her tail saddles are carmal colored rather then the normal black or brown seemn in hog tail saddles. she was almost pure white at birth and i thought she was dead untell she moved. at her darkest she is lighter then her siblings at their lightest. i know that a few others have had simaler babies so we'll see what happens. who has the t ? send my pics please thathas got to be awsome.

And if i dont say so she has some of the most breath taking animals that i have personally ever seen.. I know she is working with Ghost x Hoggs and i couldnt imagine the color combinations that will be coming up in the next few years... Sooo exciting!!

Sincerely,
Rose Hipskind
