Sliding glass doors.

socerpro31 Jan 13, 2005 08:53 PM

I am making a cage with an opening of 10". I would like to make this sliding glass front. My question is this. The opening in 10" high by 2'10 1/2" wide. What size would i need the glass cut to. I have never done this style. I have bulit cages but only ones with tilt doors. So any and all help would be appreciated.

thanks

Cody

Take the width of the opening, add the amount you want the two doors to overlap (I'd suggest 1.5" then divide by two. That's the width of each piece of glass.

Height is more difficult to determine. I bought plastic tracks from Rockler and they gave a formula for the height, but I forget what it was...

rockler track is the opening height then deduct i think its 5/16 or 7/16" from that most all tracks give a deduction amount . If you have the track already and any kind of 1/4" paneling or something to check it before the glass is cut ( this is if the track had not "destructions" with it
