Idea for caging

Advent Jan 13, 2005 09:39 PM

That is sunfox's picture, I'm just using it to show my idea.

I was thinking of putting a ziploc container under sand in the left part of the cage, with an entrance down there, and also an entrance or exit in a container like the one in this picure, connected by some sort of pipe, like sunfox has.

It would be like a burrow at the other end, with a tunnel back up to his front hide, coming in through the bottom of it.

The only worry i have is that he could get stuck and i wouldn't know about it.

Good idea?

I was thinking about doing a similar thing, because it would meet the needs of the uro, but I got thinking. Uros are smarter than we think they are, and they know that it's not really a burrow...more just a tunnel that leads to shelter. I'm thinking about trying to put a ton of good dirt in my new enclosure when it is completed and seeing if she might burrow by herself. The only thing is I need to get the mix just right so it won't cave in or anything.

But the plan you just oulined is plan B for me, so yeah, it's suitable. It gives the uros a place to go with high humidity, which is important to them.
