Hi a was wondering when the retics breeding season starts. I have heard many conflicting times of year. Also, any breeding info will help.

Thanks for your time.

Most heavy feeding seems to be spring and summer in USA and for retics, breeding starts when females are up to weight and condition. This usually occurs in early september to late october. If the female, when the male is introduced, starts tail wagging in an erotic way, and she is still eating, keep feeding her and re try the intro of the male every week or two until they seem cozy together- I Just had Kayuadi dwarf 6 yo virgin female lay her first clutch of eggs last PM- pics to follow.

My regular breeder female is a late breeder- tail wagger and didnt settle down and stop eating until early october- just had prelay shed but is about 4-5 weeks away from a big clutch.

this species is a non seasonal breeder and if in condition and heavily fed females can, when ready, breed any time of the year- watch, observe and refeed and retry until they settle down together as long as they are kept separate for general care and maintenance during the regular feeding season.

name sake
