Cresteds - Ghost morph?

Elwood54 Jan 14, 2005 01:19 AM

I don't think I've seen a morph like this for sale before, but I've seen the morph in an acclaimed book on the Rhacodactylus sp., it's basically a solid colored morph, all solid white, somewhat like the picture I've attached except it's solid, and a more prominent white.

Does anyone know where to purchase Cresteds in the Ghost morph? Maybe not in a solid white color but something close?

I haven't seen any for sale at all so if any one could direct me I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

The only place I've ever seen white crested geckos is this site.

This gecko belongs to a friend of mine. At night it's a very plain, tan looking gecko. Definitely not true white like you see on Gargoyles, but about as close as it gets.

i don't have the picture but fire and ice was selling a male for 200 on the classifieds a few weeks ago. it was almost white with a grey/slate colored harley pattern on it. one of the most unique ones i'd seen in while.

I think I might be able to get a pair of ghost morphed juveniles. Before I jump the gun, I have a question. The pair is probably 6 weeks old. They are very pale skinned, just as the ones in the pictures.

When they get older, and after consecutive sheds, will they lose the pale color?

Thanks

I've never seen a Crested Gecko called a ghost, but there are white Gargoyles, such as the one pictured here.

The crested in the photo you attached is just in its light color phase...I'm sure it gets darker, richer color at night.

So Pale colored Cresteds don't exist as adults? I'm able to get a pair of really light colored ones looking almost true white like that gargoyle but I'm not sure if they will keep that color or not into their adulthood... I believe they are around 6 weeks old.

can you post pictures of them or put up a link? it's hard to tell when they're that young but i would try to judge what they're going to look like from the other geckos the seller has.

Pale colored Cresteds do exist, but I've never heard them referred to as "ghosts." The "ghost" Rhacodactylus that you saw in a book was a Gargoyle Gecko...page 121 and 123 of the Rhacodactylus book by de Vosjoli, Fast and Repashy.

In person, pale colored or "moonglow" Cresteds are a very light greyish tan color...very similar to the color of newsprint, which to me, isn't nearly as attractive as the true white seen on ghost Gargoyles.
