3 Leos in 20GL

Kfactor Jan 14, 2005 05:23 AM

Like I said in my other post I have 2 leos normal and albino the normal is very big for his age i think being a juvie hes about 6in and the albino is i guess a regular size juvie 4in theyve lived together basically all their life unsexed as of now, now i was thinking about getting a diff morph and letting it join them 2 maybe a little younger I have 2 hides and cave with diff hides in it very nice decor.Everything would most likely be fine with a new leo with these two any advice or suggestions would be appretiated ThankYou

I would say that a 20 Gal. is too small for 3 Leos to get on in. But if you do try to introduce a new Leo into the tank with them. You would deffinately want to quarentine for at least 6 weeks in another tank by itself. Just to make sure there are no parasites or anything to infect your established "Colony".

If anyone doesn't agree please chime in!

Thanks,
Steve X.

I have a 20g for my female holding while they aren't breeding and making babies. I think 3 geckos would be fine in the 20g. Make sure you have enough food to go around and a place to hide for each of them.

Also, do you have a male in that tank, or are they all female. You don't want two males fighting, or a female laying if you aren't ready for it.

Are you talking about a 20gla long or a 20gal? I would say a 20gal long would be fine for 3 geckos but a reg 20gal would be too small. More floor space is needed than "air" space. Good luck. If you do get another gecko remember to quarantine it for about 2 months.

there's nothing wrong with putting 3 leos in a 20 long. if it really is a 20long, they will do fine. A couple things struck me though. if there is a 2 inch size difference between these two, you may have an intimidation problem. You would really be better off seperating them for a while instead of adding to the group right now. You need to let the little one catch up. Also, now would be a good time to seperate them to be sexed as well. no problem having a colony of three there (if it a 20long), I'm just not sure about those two and right now.
