How Do I Start A Herp Soc.

yhetti Jan 14, 2005 10:07 AM

I posted this message in the Herp Society Section but it doesn't look like it gets used much so I figured I would try here adn in turtles. I Live in Alaska and own a basic small zoo. I have a house hold of scales scutes and crawly things. In fact there are tons of people who own reptiles, amphibians and such up here but there isn't a herp society in sight. I have heard lots of interest from people wanting to join one and I would love to put the time and effort in to starting one, but the question is where do I start? I have contacted some of the reptile veterinarians in my area and they would love to be part of one so if anyone can point me in the right direction I am up for anything.

Well I don't know exactly how to start one. The best thing to do would be to contact a herp society in another state and ask them how they got started, what is needed etc. Just do an internet search for herp societies and email several of them. This should at least give you a place to start.
