My beardie is sleeping in

wyn Jan 14, 2005 10:50 AM

my beardie's about 8 months i have been posting messages about the litle lump on his back, but thers another problem, his lights turn on at about 8 in the morning and he usually gets right up and onto his rock, but latly he's been staying under the paper towel he sleeps under until 12pm when i come home from school at lunch hes still under the paper towel, awake but still lying in his sleeping position. he's not trapped under the paper towel because iv seen him get up and out of it before.

it's not a big problem because i just give him a litle push and runs up to his rock but he doesnt get any uv light or heat when hes under there.

please tell me what might be the problem.

unless he has a runny stool, let him sleep in! He doesn't have to go to school or work, so what is there to do? When you have nothing to do, do you enjoy someone poking you until you get up? I know i wouldn't and he probably doesn't either. Winter is comming around and even though they are not outside, they know that it is time to slow down.

I would double check the temperature of his basking spot and tank, maybe he is too hot. Also, I would take him to a vet to check that lump. It looks like an abcess of some kind and though some can go away, it could also kill your dragon. The bacteria in the abcess does get into the blood stream causing blood poisoning in extreme cases. A vet can check and see if it's just a blister or pus within that abcess.

i wouldn't worry about it mine does the same thing but she's younger eventually they stop every once and awhile i poke her to make sure she's okay and she goes to her hammock. Mine gets up at 5:45 so ther just still tired and winter is coming.
