A new low in Political correctness...

I belong to the USFA (Untited States Fencing Assoc.). This is the organisation that our Olympic Fencing team comes from.

Word has come down to us that the head of the Olympic Commitee is pushing to remove all fencing Sword fighting) from the Olympics as it is (in his opinion) not a team sport.

It is this person's opinion, that individual excellence in sports promotes discrimination and thus should be discouraged. His thought is...Atheletes that excell make other people feel inferior. Instead the Olympics should encourage the "team" to better promote "Equality".

When we ponder why there is so much under acheivement in schools perhaps this is where to start. And we are to blame. How many of us called the intelligent and accomplished students Geeks and actively discriminate against anyone who doesn't fit into our picture of Normal-and fitting in?

(ME)More politically correct, make everybody feel good "groupthink". Don't encourage individual acheivement, that's somehow dangerous.

(ME)I know ALL about this I laughed when I went to my ten year H.S. re-union. The super stud "jocks" were either losers, nobodies or couldn't make it due to alcoholism The cute girls turned really nasty looking. I doubt I'll even bother with my 20 year re-union. I want a comedy I'll go see the movies
