Marley update!!

LinsZoo Jul 04, 2003 06:11 PM

Wednesday I decided that laxative from the vet wasn't doing a heck of a lot of good. So we stopped that.
Now, I mentioned that at a few points Marley would stick out his right rear foot. Now that was after a massage in the tub so I didn't get too excited. I figured maybe I stimulated a nerve.
Yesterday I put him in the tub and he swished his tail.... 3 or 4 times!! And all I had done was put him in the water!! Well, that made me more determined. (AH! The Marley roller coaster ride of emotions!! Such fun!!)I gave him some mineral oil and all the regular treatments.
This AM I fed him his lizard gruel and set him loose in the sunroom. (That is all his and a safe place) when I came back like an hour later he was waiting at the door... Looking at me like I forgot him. He never did that before!! A second first!! I gave him his vits and decided to try something. I set him up putting his back legs in place to see if he could stand on all 4's. And he did! Only maybe 5 or 10 seconds but he did it. He did it 3 times (with me setting him up). Then I let him amble off again. Then I saw him slightly lift his rump (Yet ANOTHER first) and proceed to make a nice little iguana mountain of poop.
I was so thrilled I had to let you all know. He looked rather pleased with himself too!!
This time I saved his poop. I bagged it and put it in the fridge. Will it still be good enough for the vet to run a fecal in the AM? It will be under 24 hours. Maybe 21 or 22 hours?

That sounds like a lot of really great news!! As far as the fecal sample it "should" be okay if refrigerated for under 24 hours. A lot of vets send them off so they usually end up setting for a while anyway (although most do culture them first!) I know the vet I used to use sent out fecal samples once a week but we switched because he was a quack!! Anyway I'm glad to hear of all the firsts. Keep us all updated!

Thank you Stephanie & Heather! We better be careful, I think Marley is feeling a bit too famous!
