U. Ornata help

kintho Jan 14, 2005 06:13 PM

I´m sorry if my English is bad, but her I go(from Norway). I just got a trio of Uromastyx ornata. They had just been bur mated, and last year they laid eggs ca 2 months after that. My question Is can I use a wet incubator for the eggs, in all the article’s iv reed the problem is that the eggs dry out, and in my wet incubator its 90% humidity, and I know that most lizard eggs can bee hatched this way. If anyone can help me I would bee very happy.

Best regards Thomas

I have just hatched varanus acanthurus brachyurus (Yellow Ackie Monitors) for the first time. I had another clutch, and the eggs dried out and died, obviously due to low humidity. This time, I used perlite mixed with water 50/50 by weight, had a few very tiny holes in the box and incubated with a humidity level of 85-90%, temps at 86-90. For uros, I believe it is a little warmer, 88-90 degrees, with an incubation of 72-80 days. I would go with a little higher humidity, it worked for me! Good luck! Hope this helps a bit.
