My first blood

snakepimp Jan 14, 2005 08:51 PM

I got a great deal on this fellow, and a younger female, who is in shed now, or I would post her pic. I really didn't plan on getting them, but if I hadn't they probably wouldn't be alive, as they were not being kept warm enough...they are doing wuite well at my place right now. He is very feisty, however, does anyone have some advice on calming him down?
He is scary when he is aggressive, which is every time he sees me...I love him anyway

Well the way i calmed Rambo down was simple. I put on a long sleeve sweatshirt and a pair of thick gloves and picked him up. Boy did he bite!!! However after a couple minutes of him biting me he realized that he reeeeally wasnt being very effective at driving me away so he gave up. ive been able to handle him easily ever since.

I asked anyway. I have actually calmed down Burmese, large Boas, and a couple of carpets using the very method you described, I guess I just didn't want to have to put on "the Gloves"...
I rehabilitated those snakes from snappy, neglected/abused unfriendly beasts, to calm pet-quality cupcakes. It has worked every time I have tried it, maybe I thought there was a lullaby I could sing (or play on a drum, so he coul hear) that would chill him out.
I guess he just rattled me...It's like a shotgun going off when they strike. *_*
