Its not just the skink, its the cage, the substrate, the heating, and lighting, the electric bill, all the food you need to buy them, ect.

Guys, he want to know whether he can buy one for 100 bucks or 300 bucks. Not everyone is rich, should only the rich have access to these animals?

Thank you! I hate when people treat you like that.. I have many reptiles I know how to care for them, I have a albino burm, and red tails, and boas, and a savannah monitor. I've just been doing some research on bts cause I think i'd like to have one, and wondered what the usually price at.. don't have to be a-holes about it.

If all of the supplies cost 100 bucks, and the skink cost 100 bucks, and someone who wanted one had 200 bucks, then they would be in business. But if they supplies was 100 and the skink was 300, and they only had 200, then maybe they would post in a forum with people who know the prices, and ask, that way they don't get thier hopes too up. Ya know rich boy?

I would guess that Irian jayans are the cheapest. I went on a BTS buying spree a year and two ago and bought all Irian jayans though I also bought some Northerns and Easterns. I resold them and stuck with the Irian jayans as I liked the various patterns and colors and thought I would try to breed some nice strains.

The least expensive BTS on the market now are Kei Island BTS and some species of gigas (commonly called Indo's) they run $75.00 to $100 each plus shipping. But you can pick them up at Reptile shows and Swaps less the shipping.

And "Whats the cheapest blue tongue skink?" I agree, doesn't make much sense. That's usually what people ask when they want an animal for like $20. That's why Mike was pointing out that there's more money (than just the cost of the animal) wrapped up in owning a blue tongue (speaking from experience, and lots of emails).

Something like that would have been much easier to answer!

But to answer the question, IJ, Indonesians, Easterns, and Northerns are all in the $100 dollar range.

I thought my reply was very politely put, and I was just informing you, since you seem to be focused on price, that beyond the animal theres more $ to be spent, in case you hadn't thought of that.
