handling baby geckos

geckobill Jan 15, 2005 01:18 AM

i was just wondering when it was ok to start handling a gecko. i know that your not supposed to when they are very young cause it can stress them. mine is about 4 1/2 inches i guess but still very scared of me. would handling it make it less scared of me maybe? thanks.

I usually start handling mine when they get past their scrawing delicate stage and start to bulk up a little. Handling will usually calm them down a little and get them used to you. With a baby try to start with a few minutes a day. I know mine are always jumpy when they are young and I think some what suicidal at times (j/k). But even though most of my adult will chill on my sholder forever if I'd let them, I have some females that bolt for no apparent reason. Good Luck!
