Skin Shedding

jillanddavy Jan 15, 2005 05:36 AM

Our juvenile beardie has just started his first shedding (well, to us anyway!) and seems to have lost his appetite. Is this normal? We are very new to all this, having acquired our Beardie at Christmas for our son, and we were also wondering how often they shed their skin? How often should we bathe him when he's shedding...is every other day sufficient?
Thanks
Davy and Jill

It's normal for the dragon to lose it's appetite during shed. For young dragons, depending on how fast they are growing, can shed their entire body each month or two (in sections of course).

I was really worried when mine wasn't eating. while and after he had shed he would eat only one or two crickets a day if that. my beardie always sheds his tail first thena few days later his legs and then about week later his body. i bath him every other day when he is shedding and make sure i mist him really well everyday. he soon starts eating as normal. i was terrified when he first shed and he wasn't eating. i am new to all this aswell. he has shed twice since.
