Which leaftails have calcium sacks? do both males and females have them? where are they? how do you tell if they're getting enough calcium?
as far as the animals i have, my pietschmanni, phantasticus, and henkeli all have chalk sacs, but it is most pronounced in my pietschmanni. in both pietschmanni and henkeli, its basically on the underside of the neck, right behind the lower jaw. in the phantasticus, you can see it more as a general bulging around the neck, almost looks as if they swallowed something and its stuck in their throat when it gets big enough.
as for how to know if they're getting enough, thats a tough question. as long as they're getting dusted crickets at least once a week, i would say they're doing fine, however you might want to check the opinion others have about that. i always dust my crickets, and its especially important to make sure pregnant/laying females get plenty of calcium because laying eggs can zap them of their reserves.
Yeah, I dust the crickets and they get enough i was just wondering though. I noticed what you were saying with my lined leaftail. I thought the cricket it ate was just sitting in its mouth. thanks for the info.
