do any of you breeders provide your gophersnake with room to bury itself in substrate?...

herpsaremylife Jan 15, 2005 03:28 PM

or do you never give them the chance, so they dont know how to bury? because ive seen some photos of them in cages with no room to bury, and i was wondering if i provided them with adequite hides, could i keep them in a non-burying habitat, then they copuld be viewed more often? thnx, nick.

I keep all my gophers on aspen shavings, so if they wanted to bury themselves they could. My large sonoran doesn't try to hide himself most of the time anyway. My cape gopher is very shy and hides all the time. My pacific gophers (although this is now in question)hide a lot, but poke their heads out. None of them burrow into the shavings a lot, but can if they wish too.
