Well I finally bought a new digital scale and was weighing all of my snakes. I had thought that my 5 year old female green anaconda was around 110 lbs. Well, she is actually 144 lbs 4 oz at 13 feet right on the button. I have only been feeding her once every 6 weeks and her meals are usually between 10 to 12 pounds in total weight. She gets frequent exercise (around 1 to 2 hours per month, more in the summer), but this weight seems to be a little heavy for her length. My question is, what are your females of this length tipping the scales at? I feel my feeding frequency and poundage seems fairly typical for a 5 year old green. I know that there are wild caught greens at 16.5 feet around 230 lbs (Strimple, 1997) and others at 16 feet only weighing in at 118 lbs (Strimple, 1997)so it seems that like humans it is hard to quantify and exact "best" weight. I also realize that CB greens such as mine do not carry the parasite load of wild animals so they can tend to be heavier without being "fat". Anyway, if anyone has a female green at around 13 or so feet I'd love to hear what yours is weighing in at and what your feeding frequency and poundages per feeding are.
Best Regards,
Shane
