Hey,
Jet is going to be well and will IMO, make a full recovery. When I first received him, he came in with a URI, that for all intents and purposes looked and sounded like it would be treatable and that would be the end of that. However, he also, came in with a pretty aggressive case of Stomatitis. He's been put on a couple of antibiotics to treat the latter, as it had aggravated and infected part of the mandible posteriorly and just kept getting worse; or at least appeared to be. Anyhow, he's just shed and is breathing better, and the sheeting or drooling has stopped and is being treated aggressively with Amikacin @3 days IM. He was initially put on Ceftazidime (Fortaz), which is a great drug, however, I just treated one of the other girls with Amikacin, and liked the results. I would've preferred keeping him on Fortaz (non aminoglycoside), but the infection didn't seem to be responding to it. But, I must say this, sometimes as the Vet pointed out to me, these infections just take a little bit longer to treat, and probably the latter drug would've treated the infection effectively; I just liked the results I got with the Amikacin. We'll see!
Note: did I mention Jet also had a case of Mites! Ouch!
