Hey Yasser, I've seen your animals and you should be proud of you collection! Anyway, I have a question... would a diamond jungle really be a hybrid? They're both morelia spilota, it would seem that would make them intergrades right?

Thanks for such kind words!
But I do think they are hybrids as this is a cross between two forms that do not have overlapping ranges in nature. I assume this is what classifies the difference between hybrids and intergrades. I always assumed intergrades were naturally occurring. Diamond X Coastals are naturally occurring and therefore and intergrades.
Maybe I am wrong on this thought though.
Hmm, I do see what you're saying.
I thought that in order to be a hybrid the parent stock had to differ on the species level and not just the subspecies level. I guess I'm mentally comparing it to milksnakes which are essentially all subspecies of lampropeltis triangulum complex. I know these are considered crosses (maybe that's the more correct word than intergrades) even though some may be reproductively isolated from each other in the wild. The carpets haven't been elevated to species level, or have they?? I think that was the point of the barker's bofo but I don't know if it ever became a reality.
In any case, good luck breeding this year!

Strike that comment about the Barker's book (pythons of the world v1). I forgot that everything was lumped under variegata back then. Duh.
