JCP in her enclosure

Ted Jan 16, 2005 07:02 AM

Tuki was really moving about during our recent extreme weather change. The temperature dropped > 40F in less than 12 hr. accompanied by strong winds and a significant barometric change.

This is also an example of the false coloration than can occur if you shoot through glass. Note the additional green tint. The outside edge of the Vision cage is about right.

very pretty! how big is he/she and how big is that visoin cage? i have a 6 foot JCP only I keep her in an 80 gallon tank. mine was very restless a while back too but don't know if it was weather related or not.

Hi,

She is about 61/2 ft long and weighs a little more than 9lb. I played hold the snake on the bathroom scale game for her weight and used a string to get the length. Both were fun.

Tuki is in a Vision 433 cage, 4' x 21/4' x 21/4'or ~150 gallons. She uses the whole enclosure but seems to have favorite spots each differing in temperature, behind the water dish in back, up on the branches in the basking zone, and up against the glass in front. She seems to range her enclosure more if she is what I consider properly fed, 1-2 large rats about every 2 weeks. She would definitely eat more.

The reason I believe it was the weather is that all of our snakes, including our ball python, were on the move at the same time. Our pythons also appear to respond to strong thunder storms.

Enjoy the Day,
George
