He is a little over 400 grams but I am keeping him with adult females when he is not sch. to eat.
I know a guy that bred his lesser at 325 grams so hope I can get that lucky.
Thanks Tony
Well I wish the best for you on him. Hopefully he will breed for you at that size. I have a Male Pastel Pos Het Ghost that is about that size that is producing sperm but not showing signs of knowing what to do. Also I have a Male Cinnamon Type Granite that I hatched last year in the same range that is producing sperm but not yet aware of what he is supposed to do.

The Most Extensive Collection of Ball Python Mutations in Captivity
The lesser is not currently in a breeding project. I discovered that keeping young males with adult females while they are young encourages them to reproduce at a young age. This young male is being fed and is growing. I would really like to produce a few clutches of lessers this year but breeding season in Texas last at least until late March so there is plenty of time.
With Co-Dom animals I think it is very important to reproduce animals as quick as possible. These animals make awesome crosses but they drop in price quickly as we all know, so if I can breed a lesser male at 7-8 months I would be crazy not too.
Just thoughts from Snake Evolutions. Im sure there are many opinions on these topics.
I welcome all ideas and suggestions.

You see this is why this hobby is going where it is going with attitudes like that. Tony, you have only been around for a short while and already you have the impression that you need to produce co-doms quicker and quicker every year just to keep up with industry. Don't you see you are only hurting yourself and the people that are buying from you.
In buying from you they have this dream of making more on the return from their investment, but with your coment like this
"With Co-Dom animals I think it is very important to reproduce animals as quick as possible. These animals make awesome crosses but they drop in price quickly as we all know, so if I can breed a lesser male at 7-8 months I would be crazy not too."
you are doing nothing but hurting the industry on co-dom traits, IMPO. Let's be honest I am sure the individuals on your website have some kind of investment if not all in the snakes you have and I am sure this puts some kind of pressure on you to produce for them and make sure that the decision they made was a wise one. To me the recessive traits are where it is at.
Do you think that just because the human male can make sperm by the age of 12 that it is OK to start introducing him to women and make him reproduce? To me, I see no difference in that and your method of breeding now. Why don't you sit back and enjoy what you can produce this season without rushing things a little and maybe people will respect that more... By the way I am from the south also and I breed year around so the whole March is the end of breeding in Texas is BS !
You stated that you welcome all ideas and suggestions and this is just mine.
Morphman
In my mind there is no problem with this industry other than people dont protect it. I will be the last person to ever drop the price on any project. I think we should all be thankful to have the oppurtunity to work with animals whether its dogs or snakes.
I do not however, judge other people and how they handle their animals. Everyone has their own reciept and thats great. I stop breeding in March and if people would like to breed year round, good. whatever works.
I don't see where morphdude is coming from other than maybe he has had a bad day or gets upset very easily.
Respect comes from constantly providing people with what they want and helping them be successful in their investment. I have never had a customer spend 10,000.00 on a snake for a pet and investments are made for a reason...to make money!
Snake Evolutions takes pride in our animals, our facility and more importantly doing selfless acts in order to assure that people have a good experience with animals they bought from us or other people.
When it comes down to it, we are all still the same 10 year old kids with garder snakes and are enjoying a life long passion. I feel like I have something in common with every snake lover out there. I dont go bad mouthing peoples ideas or beliefs.... thats what will cause problems with this business, not breeding animals at 8 months of age.
Thanks Tony Hurt

they are your animals, you do what you want with them.
Good luck, you got some sweet animals!!

Tony,
Trust me everyone will always have something to say. But when you post on a public forum you are going to get opinions thrown at you left and right. But anyways, it is just all my honest opinion, not just a bad day. I produce many different species of reptiles and have been for more than 15 years. I am just stating that I agree with Kevin at NERD to let the poor little guy grow up if you want to breed a snake at 6-7 months of age that is your business not mine. But when you bring it here you make it everyones business, not just yours...
Morphman
Tony,
Do what you feel is best for your business and not what others may think. I'm sure most would line up for just one chance at a single clutch from that beautiful little guy like yours. It never hurts to try and stranger things have happened. Yes the chance of getting a male that size to actually make a female gravid are slim but I know I would be looking for return on my investment as soon as possible. Good luck and if anything the little guy will get in some practice.
Do you think that just because the human male can make sperm by the age of 12 that it is OK to start introducing him to women and make him reproduce? To me, I see no difference in that and your method of breeding now
HUH????? What the heck does breeding humans have to do with anything? I don't get your analogy. 12 year old male humans breeding isn't good because of the SOCIAL impact, not because its unhealthy for them. 12 year old kids don't have the support system to house and feed another kid, while still being in Grade 6. I highly doubt that male Ball Pythons have the responsibility to feed and cloth their babies or take them to the hospital for immunization shots, etc etc etc.
By your analogy, then there should only be ONE female for every male as well, seeing as society deems that evil as well.
Dude, you're out to lunch with the human analogy thing man. Everything else about the market is ok, but that was too funny.
On the other hand I have heard that when a young girl gets pregnant, she actually stops growing! The only credence i can lend to this is my best friend became pregnant at age 15 (we're in our late 20's) and she was 4'8". No joke. She never grew again. By the way the baby was delivered by cesarian, and he was 9 lbs! My poor friend!
When it comes to actually creating a baby, I wonder if their have been any studies on childeren produced by Males say age 13-18. Whos to say that sperm from a young male isn't "matured" enough yet, and lead to problems down the road or even miniscule ones. Back to the snake though, I was under the impression that young males who do breed do not produce viable clutches.
It doesn't take long to read many people's posts and realize who is in the hobby to "get rich quick" and who is in the hobby primarily for the love of their animals!! Yes, I plan to make money off my Ball Pythons, but when I started collecting reptiles 10 years ago, I had absolutely no intentions at that time to give up any of my babies. I loved them too much. Its reasons like that, I will be collecting reptiles for the rest of my life instead of others who will sell their entire collection when the novelty of Ball Pythons Morphs wears off and the next BIG thing hits the industry. People WILL do this, I almost guarantee it. I welcome you thoughts.
Mike
By the way, anyone who did field herping as kids, knows that GARTER snakes are always fun to catch. Never heard of a garder snake. Sorry, I couldn't resist.
Ok garter snakes..That’s it.
Talking about producing your own babies and feeling like you want to keep them forever. I admit when those babies hatch and just shine with new life it is awesome and there is no bigger thrill.
I am sure everyone has their own reason for keeping and breeding animals. I thought I would describe some of mine since we're on the hot topic.
Selling a one of those new babies to someone who has great success with it and ends up producing his own animals from a baby you produced. That’s cool
Keeping hundreds of animals and watching them thrive. That is a feeling of accomplishment that no one can ever take away from you.
Educating people and helping them acquire their first ball python is something that would give anyone a since of pride.
I guess when money gets involved in any business there are more and more opinions. Everyone has there right to their own. Emmitt Smith said best,” Opinions are like assholes, everybody as one."
In my book there are two kinds of people snake people and those who aren’t snake people and snake people should stick together.
There will be a day when we may have too.
The Ball Python Market is what it is. I hope it last for the next 30 years and new ball pythons morphs and crosses are produced every year. If next year albino womas are the new big thing then I would jump on because in order for me to be able to surround myself with these animals, they at the very least have to pay for themselves.
Thanks Tony Hurt

Bravo! Nice speech! your investors should be proud!
I will agree with the above quote, about opinions & money does make people do strange things...like get greedy,& jeopardise there friendships. & I hate to bust your bubble but Emmitt Smith did not come up w/that quote
OH Yeah!
