well, i quickly learned that my new burm DOES mistake anything that moves for food w hen its in his cage, including a lid moving a bit so i can jiggle the rat, so now im wondering about the scent left in hte cage after i remove the rat. I put it in there yesterday morning, and i'm going to remove it before it starts to stink (ie, in about 20 minutes after i jiggle it one last time). I'm wondering if theres a time period i should go before handling him due to the scent lingering, and if i need ot be changing out the aspen where teh rat sat to get rid of the scent.

also, wondering if anyone can give me any input on her age, i was told she was just three months old, but shes about 3 ft (havnt measured to be positive) and round enough to take a med/large rat w/o leaving much of a bump. the guy at the store said he was feeding her a med rat a week. She just seems monsterous for 3 months old, although i've already read that i can expect a ton of growth in the first year.

since i suspect i'll get quizzed on the girls care, shes in a 20-long, with plenty of stretching space, and im already making plans to to build a monsterous cage for her. she has a UTH and a 45-watt normal light bulb on one end (the UTH is adequate, but the bulb adds a few more degrees i figure will take it from adequate to loverly) about two inches of aspen, hide boxes on each end made from bulk popcorn boxes, which she perfers to sit on TOP of for some looney reason, and a waterbowl in the middle, not big enough for her to curl up in, but big enough to put half of her body into. I intend to get some slightly larger hide boxes, infact, to get some plastic ones, since i just dont eat enough popcorn to be replacing the cardboard boxes for two snakes with two each... ATM shes being fed freshly pre-killed, didnt eat the first one i gave her, and we're hopign to find some chicks in the area to see if we cant make a go at feeding her some chickens when she grows. obviosuly we'll still be mixing in things like rabbits and collossal rats, but its always good to have multiple food sources if one goes dry for a period of time.

thanks for any help and advice!
