Substrate question

I've always used aspen bedding, but I'm thinking of just using either paper towels or newspapers. I've noticed that a lot of people who post here do so. It isn't as aesthetically pleasing but is probably much more efficient. What about the ink and chemicals on both? Is one better than the other? Is there anything anyone else might recommend?

Justin, I've used either newspaper or indoor/outdoor carpet cut to fit for my snakes almost forever. The newspaper is easier in that all you need to do to clean it and replace it, after you clean the rest of the cage out please. Use only the printed paper, not the paper from the adds or magazines. I usually just buy a sunday paper and throw out all the adds and stuff. I've used fresh and older paper, the difference is the fresh ink can bleed on to the snake. It has happened with mine occasionally, to no bad effect. Hope this helps some.

I just recently redid my tank with the outdoor carpet. looks great and is quite easy to clean... at least while the sanke is still small
