This is my '02 splitbanded male that will breed for the first time this year.

And here is the dark phase female the above male will breed with this year. Hope to have some splitbanded dark phase offspring.
-John Lassiter-
Here is an '04 splitband female I am bringing up for the splitband male as well. Maybe in '06 but for sure in '07.
-John Lassiter-
Another female for '06 breeding.
-John Lassiter-
My extra male. I love his head pattern.
-John Lassiter-
...get those????
:Mark
Well, as you know I got the first two from YOU! The male with the Mercedes emblem or skull pattern was purchased from LLL 3 years ago as a female and ended up being a male. The nice light colored one with the busy pattern is from Michael Price (this one is F2 from some wild collected specimens confiscated at the US / Mexico border) I have another female with the same story from John Cherry I will try and post in a bit.
Thanks for the dark female and splitbanded female. I get many compliments on them.
-John Lassiter-
Sorry, I meant the second and third pics are from you. The first one was picked up at a show in Austin in '01 from a petshop that had a table. It grew up spectacular!
John Lassiter
Mark,
Here is the female I picked up from John Cherry at the ETHS show in '03. She will go in '06 for sure. Notice the same head pattern as my Mike Price Mex mex. I hope they throw some nice ones. What do you think?
-John Lassiter-
I still can't get over how incredible the head pattern is on these mex mex species, it's truly spectacular compared to my other kings I keep.
I don't breed any or my kings yet, but it's really got to be exciting when breeding the mexicana spp. due to the variability, suspense, and surprise of what could come out of those eggs.
Nice pics.
Happy Herping,
Uncloudy
My female mex mex
My male mex mex.
A Nuevo Leon male I plan on trading.
Where did you get the Nuevo Leon milksnake phase from?
-John Lassiter-
I got it from a friend in Phoenix, who didn't have any history on the parents/blood lines.
However, it was free.
Yes, it must truly be a treat breeding the theyeri not knowling what's going to come out of those eggs IMO.
Happy Herping,
Uncloudy
When the eggs are finally laid you count down the days until the projected "hatch day"
Hatchling Mex mex is truly an amazing event, but nothing IMHO compares to the hatching and variability of Nuevo Leon Kingsnakes (Thayeri). This is the "loose sleep and check on eggs every ten minutes" kind of exciting. I get this way with them every year. Now that I am breeding getula morphs also, there are going to be a lot of sleepless nights and exciting days.
-John Lassiter-
Here is something to look forward to:
You gotta love Thayeri !!

It really gets to the beauty of Thayeri-variablity and beauty in a variety of looks. That must have been a really fun day.
Thanks,
That was a real fun WEEK! With many sleepless nights. I will have some more of those weeks this summer. LOL!! Especially from this pair.
You gotta love Thayeri,
John Lassiter
those must be the prettiest pair of MIlk Snake Phase I've seen. Question: with both parents of the same phase, do you generally get must of the eggs hatching as the same phase? It seems like yo would but with these guys, I figured I'd ask.
Mark,
It actually all depends on the lineage of the breeders. If they were each offspring of Milksnake phase parents then, yes most offspring would be milksnake phase. If one or both of the parents of your breeders were Leonis phase then there is no telling what will hatch out.
Actually this pair is from different clutches. The female is from a Leonis pair and the male is from a Milksnake phase pairing.
I have no idea what the outcome will be. I can guarantee there will be some orange ones leonis and milksnake phase.
Even after generations of breeding Milksnake phase to milksnake phase a leonis phase will hatch out.
Sounds fun, Huh?

Here is one from the same bloodline:
Very nice , I really like the busy pattern.
