Hi guys,

I had this midland painted for 10 years now and still haven't gotten him a good mate yet. There's an eastern painted female that lives with him but she's still around 4-5 inches--smaller than he is by an inch or two. I'm not sure how old she is (I've had her for 6 years) but she doesn't seem ripe enough to get it on. Nevertheless, my male is always trying to copulate and she even let him do his dance in front of her couple of times. My question is, how long does it take for a female to reach breeding maturity? Should I try to stimulate conditions so they'd be able to mate? I'm tempted to get an older, larger Southern Painted for him so he can finally get some. =P

Thanks.
