Yellowbelly should I sell !!!

bande-exotics Jan 16, 2005 09:52 PM

I recently bought a yellow belly because it was a good deal at
$ 2500 . The snake was more of an impulse item because of the low price now that I'm of rational thought LOL I am thinking about reselling it. Some of my herper buddies have been telling me I can easily sell it for double what I paid in the Kingsnake classifieds. The dilemna is should I sell it and invest in some morphs or keep it and purchase another yellow belly and make an attempt at ivories. If I did try and sell it what would be a good asking price for the yellow belly its a male around 460 grams. Thanks for your opinions.

Not because you can produce Ivories.....In IMHO I don't think the Ivories will be a huge market. I see them as ugly Lucys.

Keep it because the power of the Yellow belly will be in what it may do or can do to other morphs when crossed. We have see some freaky stuff kicked from yellow belly X whatever. In addition, there are a ton of potential unknowns that the yellow belly cross could produce.....you could be in a position to be on the front end of these crosses.

Doubling your money now could cost you many thousands later....

Before I counted my YB in the bank. Unless you are dead certain what a YB looks like. I know personally it took me about 2-3 months to figure out what exactly a YB looks like before I understood it. You coulda have just bought a snake someone else thought was a YB, and gotten scammed. Post photos, no hurt in making double sure your have yourself a genuine YB.

And proven to be the HET IVORY Yellow belly, I personally have several YELLOW BELLY look-a-likes that I am growing up to breed and prove out. Even though I posted my MAIN Yellow Belly for 10-15,000, That will probably prove out, I personally would not shell out that kind of cash UNLESS it was a PROVEN line. Unless I had a BUTT LOAD of money to gamble away because truthfully If a yellow bellied snake doesn't produce the IVORYs( or someother kool morph) It ain't worth NOTHIN. EVERY Yellow Belly TYPE snake I have has NEVER cost me more than 250.00. I guess If I found a really SWEET looking Yellow Belly I might shell the bucks but I would rather get a KNOWN HET, then one from Africa unless it was cheap, and they do come in you just have to know what makes a YB a Yellow belly. Thanks just my 2 cents.

Here is a picture of a yellow belly I got for 30.00.

My Yellow Belly with my SPIDER. This is a top view of the belly photo above. This yellow belly is UNREAL, It just shed like two day ago and it is getting really weird looking. This picture was taken a few day BEFORE is was gonna SHED. Thanks DAVID

OK, you show a photo, great. You say you get them cheap, great. But i have seen like 30 photos of what people call Yellow Bellie and seems like they all are different.

My question is, if i turn over any of my Balls, what do i look for that hints or says its a Yellow Belly? Is it to do with color, or what scales are where?

Give me a "Yellow Bellies For Dummies" class(please).

If you got a few more of those Yellow Bellies you picked up for $30 i will double your money if your getting rid or a couple...

Thank you very much... John

Doesn't seem to me like the yellowbellies on KS are really selling all that well. Why pay $7500 for an animal that just makes ivories, when you can pay $10,000 for an animal (mojave) that makes the TRUE lucy?!?

The fact that you see tons of YB's on KS for outrageous prices does not mean they are selling. In fact, if you take a look at the classifieds, you will see the same people advertising the same animals for months and months at a time.

You are right about them not selling. Mostly becuase they are way over priced. I would guess they will come down very soon... John

People want Yellow bellies because they have been linked to several NEW and nice MORPHS. IVORYs, Ebonys, Striped YB, and I am sure they will link up to several more NEW color morphs as well. I see your point about Mojave's VS Yellow bellies but People are still messing with the Yellow bellies, Maybe someone will prove that a YELLOW BELLY X MOJAVE produces some kool new morph.....or will it just throw another type of white snake, Or could be a snake het for both Ivorys and LUCYs and Mojave and Yellow bellies.....Gotta love BALL PYTHONs and all of the COMBOs. Thanks DAVID
