newbie questions

Hi, my girlfriend and I want to get a few baby turtles as pets. We want to start them out in a small 10 gallon tank and eventually move up to a 75. Just doing my homework on them but have several questions. Sorry about the amount of questions but thanks for all the answers.
1. Whats the best way to set up the tank? What is a good filter?
2. What differend species of turtles are compatable? She wants some red ears and I want a snapper. Would that work together?
3. Can you get other species of animals in the same tank with not any harm? Frogs, Fish, ect....
4. Wheres the best place to buy online?

Thanks a lot. Matt

i've been using fuval filters. keep in mind, that you need a filter that moves more water than you actually have. If you have a 10 gallon aquarium, i wouldn't get a filter that moved any less than 25-30 gallons. it will help tremendously with keeping your tank clean. You'll also need a full spectrum light source as well as a basking light. You also might want to consider a water heater. A basking spot is also really important for the RES. Dont keep the snapper and RES together. they'd each need their own tank. snappers like water that is shallow enough where they can poke their head out, and the RES will get more enjoyment out of having slightly deeper water to swim around in. And if it were me, i'd keep fish and frogs away from the turtles. I dont really have any suggestions as to where to purchase turtles online, but kingsnake.com has a huge list of companies that sell turtles and turtle supplies. Also, you might want to consider getting one hatchling at a time. There is a lot involved and sometimes its better to test the water rather than jumping in head first. Best of luck!
