Arboreal SetUps Curious to see what people have or bought

viper69 Jan 17, 2005 01:05 AM

Id like to see what people have for Crestie setups...esp if they are arboreal enclosures. The amount of people selling arboreal setups is endless..

Would like to know what people have bought or made for that matter.

We bought a 16x16x20 cage from Barrs (www.herpcages.com) and are quite happy with it. It is lightweight and well constructed with plenty of ventilation.

I used screen cages. The most recent one I purchased is from Allen Repashy (not the one in the picture, but similar). It is built very well - goes together easy and STRAIGHT (which, unfortunately, can't be said about all cages).

The only switch to this set up is the use of egg cartons instead of branches. It retains humidity better, plus it aids in shedding, since it is rough. As soon as i switched to egg cartons, I ceased having problems with winter sheds - which is a problem in my dry basement herp room.

Anyway - here's a pix of one of my set ups.

i just got a new cage yesterday from reptile depot at the ny herp expo. i must say, i made away like a bandit. the tank measures 16x16x30. the design is genious...the front opens, along with the bottom section of the front. this makes changing out the newpaper effortlessly. my crested that inhabits the tank is doing amazing. hes overwhelmed, im sure. but he is a lot more active, crusing his new cage tirelessly. i plan on upgrading all of my cresteds to this same enclosure in the next few months. ill get pics today. actually, ill do it right now
