Nice Surprise - Elaphe porphyracea vaillanti laying clutch *Photos*

Sometimes you just get lucky : )

We observed breeding activity with these imports back when we got them in a couple months ago, and low and behold, today, one of the females was caught in the act depositing her clutch : )

The eggs on the ground so far (two of them) both look good, and she's got another two in her..

One other adult female looks to be gravid also..

Lucky indeed - looks like that long-needed colony of c.b. vaillanti may just be on the horizon.

Congrats Steve, thats a great looking snake. Best of luck with the eggs and babies, hopefully these are bred more frequently soon and CB babies are not too hard to find. the pair of climacs you sent me is doing great, eating like hogs, thanks again.

Have a good day,
Gregg F.
