Should I use a full hood or a screen hood? It is in a 75 gallon.
I have a warm flow humidifier.

hello, first off i would stay clear of any glass aquariums.chams need sufficient airflow and they will not get it in there. also the reflection of themselves will definately stress them out. and stress can be fatal.i would suggest an all screen cage with a uv bulb and a bulb for basking.you can get screen cages on e-bay lll reptile. i do not know what kind of cham you have.that will determine what size to use. please do some researchhttp://www.chameleonnews.com/index.html

http://www.chameleonjournals.com/journals/ here is a couple of websites you can brouse and get info. there are some well experience cham owners on this forum who can help you. good luck matt p.s. stay away from a warm mist humidifier an cool mist ultrasonic is recommended
I will second the sentiment not to use an aquarium; unless it's a hatchling (some vendor was selling VERY YOUNG veiled chams at the NY show this weekend, they were no more than a few days old... they would do well in aquarium so that the humidity is maintained... however it's not good to get them that young, as the mortality rate for such young chams is high... but I digress).
What kind of cham? how old? what have you read/do you know about them? What kind of set-up are you planning on? what lights are you using? how are you "watering" your cham?
All of these could/would affect your housing choice... tho I also would like to voice my dislike for reptariums as permanent caging for chams. I found mine hard to clean, get into & decorate sufficiently with vines/branches & such. Mine also melted under the light, so I bought a screen cage for my cham at the show this weekend... i suppose they are good for sunning in the summer... and maybe a back-up cage for cleaning time...
Lastly, eBay does have a fair variety of cages (screened) at (sometimes) reasonable prices. If you are the handy-man type, you can also make your own from screen window supplies at your local hardware store (tho the aluminum screening necessary to withstand the heat from the lights is notoriuosly difficult to work with). You can also search online for "screened chameleon cages" - there are many sellers out there. a quality 2'x2'x4' cage should be an average of $100. less for smaller... more for custon builds.
Good luck!

Hi,
I'd just like to say that you never ever use a glass aquarium for a cham. It doesnt matter what size, age, or whatever, they die. The glass doesnt allow for sufficient airflow, and the humidity makes for stagnant air full of bacteria. They get really bad upper respiratory infections, lose weight, get stressed, and die. Also, they can see their reflection in the glass, which causes stress, and stress kills chams. You always want to use a screen or other fully ventilated cage. Also, you need to use a COOL mist humidifyer, if you can, because the warm one will grow bacteria in your cage.
I'd definitely take a look at your care and decide if you're really ready for the level of care a chameleon requires. Good luck,
ML
What kind of cham is it?
