Using CHE in Visions

ionides Jan 17, 2005 09:41 AM

I just bought a couple of 632 Visions for my retics yesterday, and wondered how high a wattage of heat you can placed in a fixture (before the cage melts). Vision says 60 watts but I know it is higher than that. I have had 100 watts running for 24 hours with no problems.

Also, what do you prefer... spot lights, flood lights, infared, CHE, etc.?

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

In Vision cages CHE's tend to dry the air out. Your Retic needs an adequete humidity level, you may not be able to reach optimal levels w/ a CHE. Your best bet, and this is what I use w/ my Retic is a radiant heat panel. I use Pro-Products and its worked very well for me. There are others that make them too, some less expensive, but Pro-Products has a 10 yr warranty and holds up very well to the kind of humidity needed for a 'Tic.

I got mine for $125, for a 6ft Vision, and it was worth every penny.

If you go to their site you can e-mail them your specifics and they'll tell you exactly the size and model you'll need. Very good company IMHO.
