Persistant Breeding Male...

-JayDog- Jan 17, 2005 12:36 PM

I've got my male in with my female for the breeding season. At first there was a little "pecking" going on. but that has ended and I haven't seen it since they were put together for the first time. My question is, the male is really persistant and always vibrating his tail and trying to get his groove on with her. Everytime I hear it I watch to see what happens and the female always runs away. If by chance, they have already "done it" will the male keep going after her? or will he stop? And, will the female not accept him if she's already been fertilized? it could just be that shes not ovulating yet and not ready for him, but I can never tell if she is ovulating. I see pink marks but not very pink. So i'm not positive.

Thanks,
Jason

If she runs away that usually means that she is not ready for him yet. And yes the male will still try to breed with her even if they have already mated. That is why you take the male out of the tank after he has mated so he doesn't cause too much stress on the female.
