If it ain't broke don't fix it.
Welcome to kingsnake.com's message board system. Here you may share and discuss information with others about your favorite reptile and amphibian related topics such as care and feeding, caging requirements, permits and licenses, and more. Launched in 1997, the kingsnake.com message board system is one of the oldest and largest systems on the internet.

I find it also very disturbing, to say the least. If they want to do it that way, then PLEASE, put a little comment beside each forum to indicate if there are any new posts since last visit to the main forum.
What were they thinking??!!!!!!!
I have to admit I think it's a bit much too. Maybe just the general Tree Boas forum and the ETB and ATB subforums? The other stuff can all be handled under respective forum/subforums I think IMHO.

Now the python forum, along with the smaller forums kinda stink IMHO. Traffic and posts make it fun...no one wants to watch a dead forum. But, I didn't like when they changed to the newer server either...they have adjusted it and it is not too bad.
At first Wow Cool, are own Forum for A.T.B.'s, then I thought Wow, we are divided enough ie: The Emerald Keepers & The Amazon Keepers, this is really going to divide us now ! And that aint Good, IMO ! This Forum is very "SLOW" to begin with, with not a whole lot of participation from "ANYONE", I'd say it's better off the way it was, and now with 6 Sub-Forum's this is "Ridiculous" ! Just My 2 Cent's ! Take Care !

Who says the forum ain't broke?
And says corallus aren't important enough or special enough
to rate having 7 forums? Must be one of them CHONDRO people eh! Thems fitin words. How many web sites or web pages are devoted to corallus? How many of you just keep corallus? Do you just have 1? If you can have more than 1 corallus, then we can have more than 1 corallus forum, isn't that fair?
But seriously...
If 7 forums turns out to be too many, there is nothing that says we have to leave all 7 forums up, but odds are high that given time, if we try to take them away, we will lose our fingers. (ask the ball python people if they want to go back into the python forum again)
Every day we get requests from our users and vendors for more forums, more specific forums, more information, and more content.
For years we have been limited by a number of factors, one of which was the simple size issue of the main forum index, but many other issues as well. After reviewing these factors, and a number of issues, we found that our lack of these things that our users and vendors were requesting, was beginning to limit our growth as
a community. Someone in this thread said the tree boa forum was already "slow enough as it is". This is perhaps one of our first public steps towards changing it. They (sub-forums)aren't perfect yet, a few bugs to squash, a few features to test and launch as yet, but they are getting there, and they give us so much more flexibility when covering topics.
Our goal, with the forums, and kingsnake.com in general, is to have the most complete, and detailed, coverage of every significant interest group within our community, and to make that information easy to find, and access. With that in mind, over the next 6 months to a year you will see each forum include more and more on-site and off-site information and content, and more specific and detailed coverage of certain topics through the use of sub forums and other features. These sub-forums are only a start.
Is seven corallus forums too many? Today, this week, maybe yes. Over the next 5 years, probably not. Some day the tree boa forum(s) will encompass several hundred thousand messages. With that much information available it will be easier to find, access, and present it, spread over mutiple forums, rather than just one. One thing that doing this for as long as we have is that we have learned to design our systems not for how they work today, under todays loads and todays user requests, but how they work 5 years from now, under those loads, with more people, faster PC's and more bandwidth.
Finally, every time we make a significant change to the web site roughly half the users affected hate it, the other half love it.
We don't take it personally. This is considered SOP now and is expected by our staff.
Back in 1997, when we only had 8 forums, and we split
the turtle and tortoise forum into 2 forums, you would have thought we had a wardrobe malfunction during the superbowl from the outcry. Every time we have split forums up, there has been some trepidation from the users. We went from 1 to 2, to 8, to 12, to 16, to 20, to 40, to 80, to 115, and now with subforums who knows where we will end. Each time predictions of the world ending and pestulance and plagues of abandonment and non-use have come to naught.(Remember that this forum was once a part of the boa forum, which was part of the boids forum at one point. Imagine all the boa and python people here now crammed into one forum. Posts would roll off the screen before you could read them.) Even when we increased the free photo gallery size from 1 mb to 10 mb we still got complaints. We don't expect everyone to fall in love with our ideas, at least not today, but in time, you watch. Twelve months from now, someone will be asking us to add another forum here.
Bottom line, relax, give it time, and I am fairly certain you will become more comfortable with the changes. And remember
change is constant and inevitable.

And besides, seven forums is seven times the number of sponsor links right?
I for one say "yes". Actually, if there was a forum just for photos it would make the experience more enjoyable. Sometimes these various forums seem like just a venue for collection photos with the advice-experiences-recommendations aspect being pushed aside or difficult to find at best.
