I recently aquired a baby god tegu and have been feeding dusted crickets. Just wondering if they will eat feeder fish (ruby reds, etc.). Also what age will they begin to take fruits/vegetables? Thanks in advance.

i've tried feeding fish to my tegus but they never seem to like it. i have niles too and they eat the fish and like it.
Gold tegus are carnivers tegus. You can try and see if it eats fruit, but it probly wont. Dusted gut loaded crickets and kingworms is all it needs till it can eat a hopper size mouse. then all you need to feed is bugs and mice .hope this helps .take care Russ
Russ is correct on golds being "primarily" carnivorous. The baby golds I have had in the past all did extremely well on the same diet as my black & whites and even blues. This consisted of boiled chicken (whatever was on sale at the time) cubed or cut into small enoguh pieces for their represented size. Also, I would reduce the fruit content in my version of the sand diego zoo diet by 2/3 for them. The chicken will or should go over well for them. The sdz may take a week or so, though they typically will begin to love that as well. All the food of course is supplmented with Cal. Vit. D3. I have found that regarding fish aspects, the adult or sub-adults are about the only ones who start enjoying this. Also, some try canned cat food, though would use this only sparingly and it would need to be of high premium only.
Good luck!!!
