Nice article. Very interesting.! How many species of Uroplatus does this zoo have on display? Is it a nice zoo? What sort of work do you do there? Thanks.

i think i remember a guy, might have been uroplatusguy off here, was passing around pics thru email of about 5 or 6 pietschmanni hatchlings they were successful with....wouldnt be surprised if they have quite a collection.
when i was there last fall i believe they only had fimbriatus. this was before i was into uroplatus so they may have had more. i remember seeing them and wanting them SOOOO bad, so i got some satanics, lineds, and mossies haha...
I love that Zoo!!! thanks

where are you located ben? i go to the omaha show and have been to the zoo several times. VERY unique reptile dome they have there!.
it's like disney lands epcot only made out of glass as a greenhouse for the reptiles.
I am in Lincoln, NE... But for the past two years I was a summer keeper at that Zoo... It's a world renowned Zoo, consistently one of the top rated in the nation... I gained a ton of experience from working there... I was hired as the “bug guy” but my experience and interest is much farther reached than that… I am unsure of the number of Uroplatus that are actually in the collection, but you will only see fims, siks, henks and linned on display... There are over ten times more uroplatus that are off display and involved in an extensive breeding project... In the past two years they have hatched numerous Uros from several species... The project is just starting to take off... The picture that went around of the cork hatchlings is accredited to Sean Foley at Riverbanks Zoo though...
I always have a booth with a friend at the Omaha show (he's the only guy in the midwest that breeds darts), we've probably met...

do you happen to recall a guy named shawn lockhart? he works in the biology labs of the university of iowa. deals mostly with corn snakes and ball pythons. ( hawkeye herps is also a name you may associate him with) he had an article in REPTILES about scientific naming of animals and how it changes when different species are discovered/distinguished. ( i'm very good friends with him if you know him)
and as far as the dart frog breeder. i specifically remember him from the last time i went. had a very nice naturalistic set up with gorgeous frogs. i'll try to make it to the next show and look you up.
I agree nice article, gorgeous Lemur.
Your friend is quite a gifted man, and leads an interesting, life to say the least.
Such a PASSION for his work.
