Saharan Uro babies not growing??

kelaineb Jan 17, 2005 04:28 PM

Back in October, I purchased 2 CB(supposedly), hatchling Saharan Uros. I have been following the Deer Fern Farms caresheet. The babies have been eating well and seem to be doing fine. Except for one thing...They have only grown about a half inch in length. Is this normal? Do they just grow slowly or is there something wrong with them?

I had a clutch of healthy saharan uromastyx hatch back in June. They had incredible appetites! All of them surivived and are still healthy and strong. I also noticed they seem to be growing very slowly. If you take in to consideration the length of time it takes for this species to become mature (3-4years)perhaps this is normal. The hatchlings were about 2.5" at hatching and at 7months old they had grown to about 4.5"

Ok, now I feel better. Mine are about 3 - 3 1/2 inches long. I was unaware that they took so long to reach maturity. I was used to the phenomenal growth of my beardies!!
