What would be the best tank size for 1 adult size midland painted turtle?
the general rule is 10 gallons per inch of shell size. However the more space you can give your turtle the better off he will be they like the space and exercise. Hope this helps. Right now i have a 1 1/2 year old midland and i just upgraded (but he will be in this tank for a while) he is in a 70 gallon.

Well I have two midland painteds now, one about 7 inches and another about 4 inches. I want to breed them and then keep one or two of the hatchings. The reason why I ask is because I don't want to keep upgrading all the time. So I just thought that I would get a tank big enough to accomadate at least two adult size turtles. So when the hatchings get that size I won't have to worry about it.
Then you are going to want to go with a rather large tank over a hundred gallons prefered.
