Stuck substrate.

mike777777 Jan 17, 2005 06:53 PM

I just noticed that my baby boa has some substrate (forest floor) stuck under his "lip". I believe it has been there since he last fed 5 days ago. Should I see if it becomes dislodged on its own or should I try to remove it myself? How would I go about safely removing it by hand? Thanks.

Absolutely, take the piece out. If it were to get infected it can lead to mouth rot. Andy

Not only can it cause an infection but it could end up being injested and cause an impaction internally. Use your imagination to remove it. Tweezers may work but avoid damaging any tissue.
