Tried mealies

Schizmsgrl Jan 17, 2005 09:46 PM

Well I went to the petstore yesterday and they did have mealies, so I bought a container of 50 for now until I see how well Gypsy will like them...I am a bit worried about her appitite latlely, she hasnt been eating well (like normal 20-30 crix a day) for about almost 2 weeks now!

She has hardly been wanting her crix,so I figured maybe she needed something differnt and got mealies. She only ate 4 yesterday and didnt touch her crix, and I could only get her to eat 2 mealies today, and it looks like she only ate one cricket.
What is Up With That?? I am getting a bit worried..

And her drinking habit!! Argh! As I told you guys before, No matter how much we try and coax her to drink out of her bowl, she only wants to drink off our fingertips, once inna great while I can get her to drink out of her bowl, but I have to make her follow my fingertip over to it, and splash it around a bit. Then she will sometimes drink. She also will drink occasionally straight from the faucet!! She has been that way scince we've owned her in October...(Spoiled Brat!!)

Anyhow, should I be worried about her appitite? Or her drinking habit? And what else can I offer her to eat?

Thanks again for reading my book like post...

Well they can slow down a bit on the eating this time of year. If you don't notice any weight lose I would not worry.

If you do, then you may want to have her checked for parasites and treated sometime down the road.

As far as the drinking , not uncommon at all. Alot of reptiles will not notice the water UNLESS it's moving.
Thats why she likes the faucet, and even your finger, because she sees the water drops.

You can either train her to drink from an eyedropper, or better yet, spray the sides of her tank heavy and let her lick the drips herself.

Or have a plant of some kind in there with nice sized leaves and spray that, and even have a shallow dish right under the leaf so the water drips of the plant into it. she will lick the leaves.

Ok I will not worry about her eating so much then, phew thanks!') She doesnt seem to be losing any weight, still has her little chubby like belly!

And thanks, I will try the spray thing! I dont really wanna go the eyedropper way, she's spoiled enough! lol

I was surfing around checkin out herp supplies the other day and saw some small waterfall like things, would I be able to get one of those for her to drink out of or will it cause too much humidy in her tank? Jus' wonderin'....

And YES she is a cutie!! Thanks so much!!

we have a water fall for our CWD, she like yours wont drink from stagnate water. the difference with ours is that we want all the humidity we can get (80% and we live in an aria with 10%). one guy suggested to me to duct a line from an air pump for fish aquariums into the water bowl (this was before the water fall). i dont think ether way would add too much humidity to any aquarium, to get ours to 80% we pretty much have to saturate the inside of the terrarium daily.
