Traveling 02 Hogg Island

JaredAren Jul 04, 2003 11:36 PM

02 Hogg Island purchased by Southwest Wisconsin Reptiles and sold to me. It was then sold to Captive Bred Specialties in Wisconsin and then was sold again on Kingsnake.com. I hope it found a good permanent home.

You said you hope it has found a good home..

Everybody does! These boas that end up 'in the mill' live second-rate lives and are the most likely source for new and resistant infections and diseases.

I understand the role of re-sellers in the trade but I do not comprehend why individual people would buy a pet then trade it in next week or next month on something new.. If you or I made a business out of doing that with cats, dogs or birds we'd be run out of town by our neighbors or sued by the ASPCA

That one looks pretty nice and I'm sure it is at least as happy as you are that you took it home..

Gus Your right, too many of these animals are turned over for the buck and do not have a stable home. It happens very often with bird keepers too. Sadly birds comprehend this action even more so then snakes, birds will form a strong bond to their keepers and can become quite depressed when they are sold off time and time again. This is very evident in feather pickers, birds that pluck themselves bald. They are normally sent from home to home until they are truly insane, sometimes they find a good home in a breeding facility sometimes they simply die from neglect.... it is sad.
Thanks
Jim
