Safe feeding?

angelic_eyes Jan 17, 2005 11:30 PM

Is it a good idea for a tamer snake to feed some where besides its enclosure? So it doesn't associate food with its cage?
If so lets say I was to feed him in the bathtub, Don't you think after he eats, and I stick my hand in there to get him out he will think im food also? Just wondering.. thanks!

Feeding in cage is best..You dont want a large snake still looking for food when you go to get it out of the tub...

The safest thing is to feed your burm in its cage. My burms stay "turned on" for quite a while after feeding.
I know without a doubt, if I stuck my hand in the cages within a couple of hours after feeding...I am snake food!
Get in the habit of feeding in the cage now, so when your snake is 8ft, 10ft, you dont have an accident waiting to happen.
On other occasions when you go into the cage, use a snake hook or something to that effect. This way you are conditioning your snake to the idea it is not eating time just because you opened the cage.
